Edit as you go

Try to edit as many of your photos when on the road. Also do your writing drafts. You will do a better job because the actual scenes and backstories are fresher in your mind. Besides, you'll have less work ahead of you when you return home.

Passwords

When you are in a distant location, you can easily forget passwords that you have used daily for years in your home or office. This mind-blocking happens to the best of us. Discreetly write them down and keep them safely with you.

Backup

Bring along an ample supply of empty formatted disks and memory sticks to back up your edited photos and writing drafts. Do it regularly and store the media away from your computer. Remember, the odds of your laptop being lost, stolen or damaged increases when you travel.

Use familiar software
