$$$ Upmarket

Celebrity Cruises

Its typical ships accommodate nearly 2,000 passengers each. Celebrity Cruises' overall quality in service, food, and ambiance is well above the cruise industry's average.

Cunard Line

This line that features Queen Elizabeth 2 ( QE2) and the Queen Mary 2 (QM2) has limited Caribbean sailings.

Holland America Line

Its onboard look and feel is more traditional, less modern or contemporary than the typical cruise line. The Holland America line attracts a more cultured and reserved audience than you'll experience on most other fleets.

$$ Mid-price range

Carnival Cruise Lines

Ships are quite large (about several thousand passengers). Carnival has the most flashy Vegas-like fleet afloat and has a well-documented fun, party-boat reputation. It appeals mostly to mid-income couples, singles and families.

Disney Cruise Line

Pleasing children is the priority, but parents (with the help of baby sitters and organized kid programs) can sneak off to onboard activities and facilities designed for them. Disney's 7-day land-and-sea vacation includes Walt Disney World and cruising to the Bahamas.

Norwegian Cruise Line

The Norwegian Cruise Line innovated the now popular "freestyle dining" concept. You  can dine in different onboard restaurants - the choice is yours each night.

Princess Cruises

Its quality is among the best in the mid-price category. Princess has a dozen cruise ships, which reflects its popularity. Most vessels are large. One is imaginary (the "Love Boat" made famous by the TV show).

Royal Caribbean International

The Caribbean is its prime focus. One ship - the Oasis of the Sea, accommodates 5,500 guests (world's largest). Royal Caribbean attracts middle income families (with teens and children) and young couples. Numerous onboard activities.
