Getting to St Lucia

It is served by international airlines. Cruise ships visit often. Ferry service is available to and from Dominica, Guadeloupe, and Martinique.


Size

The island measures 43 kilometers (27 miles) in length and 22 kilometers (14 miles) at its widest point.


Mountainous interior

Much of the landscape is lush tropical vegetation and the peaks rise as high as 950 meters (3,120 feet).


Language

English is the official language. The French Patois and Creole are also widely spoken.


Sovereignty

St Lucia is an independent nation and a member of the British Commonwealth.
