Must-see churches

Olomouc is blessed with noteworthy churches. The top three:

St. Wenceslas Cathedral
Huge in size and history. It is the town's most respected church.

Visitation of Virgin Mary Church
Part of a monastery. Sits on a hill within view of Olomouc. The interior is stunning.

St. Morris Church
Has a Baroque organ with 10,400 pipes, a world's record. Special organ performances for the public are held.

Getting there

Olomouc is easily reached from Prague. It lies 270 kilometers (170 miles) east of the capital. Express trains take slightly over 3 hours and pass through forests and bucolic landscapes.

The historic district is best explored on foot. It's relatively compact and parts are closed to vehicular traffic.
