Why the
Silver Wind is special

Cruise tips you can trust

Top five reasons
why seasoned cruisers
like the Silver Wind

I informally surveyed my fellow passengers during a Southeast Asia cruise to learn why they enjoy the Silver Wind cruise ship. The top 5 reasons:

True luxury

Every cabin is a suite with comfortable and stylish furnishings. Public spaces are uncrowded, comfortable, and tastefully designed.

The staff is well-trained, caring, and eager to please. You feel special because the passenger-to-crew ratio is low (1.3 to 1).

Food quality is high. The chef puts attention and care into his preparations. Wines are well selected.

Ship size

The Silver Wind carries just 298 passengers (larger ships carry up to a dozen times as many). This means that your cruising experience is relaxed and personal.

Fellow passengers

You meet educated, sophisticated, well-traveled, and unpretentious cruisers. You enjoy being with them.

All-inclusive fare

You don't keep signing and keeping track of chits for frequent charges like beverages. With the exception of items like short excursions and spa visits, virtually everything is covered by the fare.

Shore excursions

They are thoughtfully selected for cultivated travelers and the tour buses are not packed.

Other reasons include

You can dine when, where, and with whom you like. Pool deck lounges are always available (fellow passengers do not hog them with left items). Very few if any children are aboard to disrupt the tranquil scene. Every cabin has butler service. Waiting lines are rare. Public address announcements are few and unobtrusive. The entertainers and enrichment lecturers are first rate. Waiting lines are short and rare. Officers readily engage with guests.

More pointers

The Silver Wind is not for you if ...

You're taking your teenagers or children (there are no specialized facilities or programs for them) You desire ship activities like water slides and glitzy, big-stage Las Vegas and Broadway style production shows  Your budget is tight.
