Walking Safaris Camp
tips & insights

Adventurer's dream

The Ngala Walking Safaris Camp is an adventurer's dream. It's not for the faint-hearted. You take 3- to 4-hour morning tracking walks led by a rifle-toting ranger through terrain inhabited by lions, elephants and rhinos.

These on-foot journeys were the highlight of my safari trip. I was able to get up close and personal with the wildlife in a way I could not do while sitting in a safari vehicle.

Evening trek

It begins with a game walk and, when night sets in, finishes with a game drive.

Tents

These are real tents - walls and ceilings are canvas. And there are only four of them, so there can never be more than eight guests at a time at the Ngala Walking Safaris Camp.

You're not
roughing it in the
traditional camping sense

You sleep in a comfy king-sized bed and have an in-tent flush toilet. However, the shower is a bucket-fed affair and is outside - though the water is heated and the unit has canvas sides for privacy's sake.

There is no electricity

The Ngala Walking Safaris Camp uses candles and lanterns at night. This accentuates the out-of-Africa aura.
