St Kitts and Nevis

Caribbean tips you can trust

Why St Kitts &
Nevis are special

The tourism infrastructure of the two-island nation St Kitts and Nevis is only modestly developed. This a plus for travelers seeking more of a laid-back getaway than an action-packed vacation.

The two islands

St Kitts

It is twice as large as Nevis and has three times the population. St Kitts' top two highlights:

Frigate Bay

It lies on the Caribbean Sea side of the southern peninsula and has St Kitts' finest beach. Frigate Bay has become the island's resort center.

Brimstone

The Brimstone Hill Forest National Park is home to a sizeable 18th century fortress. It commandingly sits on an extinct volcano cone and has been semi-restored.

Basseterre (bahss-tehr) is the capital city. Though it's energetic, it lacks sufficient must-do-and-see attractions to warrant an overnight stay.

Nevis

It's even more laid back than St Kitts. It has fewer tourists and resorts - and less nightlife and fine dining.

Pinney's Beach

This palm-fringed beach is the best one on the island.

Resorts

Two of its resorts, the Nevis Four Seasons and the Nesbit Plantation, are among the nation's finest.
