St Kitts & Nevis
tips & insights

Island separation

The sibling islands of St Kitts and Nevis are separated only by a 3 kilometer (2 mile) wide channel. A short ferry ride connects them. This makes it easy for tourists staying on St Kitts to make a day trip to Nevis.

Hiking

Both islands have interesting trails through mountainous terrain blanketed with tropical vegetation. Each has a trail reaching its highest peak. Seasoned hikers prefer Nevis' "Nevis Peak" to St Kitts' "Mount Liamuiga" (formerly named Mount Misery).

Diving and snorkeling

There are many worthy sites with high underwater visibility.

Sugar cane plantations

Both islands have interesting plantations that are open for lunch and tours. Some even offer accommodations.

British colonial legacies

The language is English, cricket is popular, and you drive on the left side of the road.
